SAYS THE LORD OF HOSTS

Yesterday, we spoke of Malachi 3 and Malachi 4 revealing God’s distinction between the righteous and the wicked (Mal. 3:18). Today, we are going to dig a little deeper by looking at all the mentions of “says the LORD of hosts” in these two chapters as well.

YHVH is not only the LORD of the angelic hosts, but He is the LORD of the Melchizedek hosts as well – YHVH Sabbaoth. Both are His heavenly based armies.

The phrase “says the LORD of hosts” occurs ten times in the following context:

[1] YHVH’s messenger is sent to clear the way before Him. Behold, He is coming (Mal. 3:1).

[2] YHVH will draw near for judgment. He will be a swift witness against the sorcerers; adulterers; those who swear falsely; those who oppress the wage earner, widow, and orphan; those who turn aside the foreigner; and those who do not fear Him (Mal. 3:5).

[3] Return to YHVH, and He will return to you (Mal. 3:7).

[4] Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so there is food in His house. Test Him in this, and see YHVH open the windows of heaven to pour out an overflowing blessing (Mal. 3:10).

[5] YHVH will rebuke the devourer for those who bring the whole tithe into His storehouse. His storehouse is the place where He feeds you spiritually (Mal. 3:11).

[6] All the nations will call you blessed and you will be a delightful land (Mal. 3:12).

[7] You have walked in mourning before the LORD of hosts (Mal. 3:14).

[8] Those who fear YHVH will be spared as His own sons who serve Him (Mal. 3:16-17).

[9] All the arrogant and every evildoer will be chaff set ablaze, so their generations will be no more (Mal. 4:1).

[10] Those who fear His name will tread down the wicked as ashes under the soles of their feet (Mal. 4:2-3).

So, let’s summarize. The kings and priests of the Order of Melchizedek will clear the way before YHVH Sabbaoth before He draws near for judgment. He will be especially swift in His righteous judgment against sorcerers, adulterers, liars, oppressors, the inhospitable, and those who don’t fear Him. If you want to rebuke the devourer from your life, bring your tithe to the place God’s leads – a place that spiritually feeds you. Those who fear the LORD will be spared during His judgement. They will tread down the wicked, arrogant and every evildoer once God’s judgment sets them ablaze where they are turned to ash.
