All of Scripture has a personal application. When it says in Revelation 13:18 “Let him that has understanding count the number of the beast for it is the number of a man; and his number is 666,” it communicates that the beast (or antichrist) can be within you and me, because three “6”s speak of a completely selfish man.
“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!” (2 Timothy 3:1-5 NKJV).
There are many beasts and many false prophets, and I believe that one day the very ones in the book of Revelation will appear. But I really don’t concern myself with it, because MY FOCUS IS SOLELY ON LOVE (YESHUA). So… I look at myself and my desire to be more like Him; therefore, if I am being completely selfish, I want to first recognize it by being humble and teachable. Then I want to confess my sin and turn from my wicked ways (repent)… which are all fundamentals of the Christian faith.
