In the Melchizedek section of the Dead Sea Scrolls (11Q13), we are told of the Messenger who brings good news, who announces salvation is the one of whom it is written “to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor, the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn” (Isaiah 61:2). This is Messiah Yeshua (Jesus Christ) and mature believer continually pressing “toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:14 KJV). It’s the mature head and mature body of Christ.
This Melchizedek – those made after the Order of Melchizedek – is to instruct the people about all the periods of history for eternity and in the statutes go the truth.
Through the divine judgment of God, dominion will pass from Belial and return to the Sons of Light, just as it is written, “who says to Zion ‘Your divine being reigns’” (Isaiah 52:7). Zion in this context is the congregation of all the sons of righteousness who uphold the covenant and turn from walking in the way of the people (men). “Your divine being” is Melchizedek who will deliver them from the power of Belial.
Various Hebrew Sages have several interpretations of the original meaning of “Belial,” including the one who thrown off the yoke of heaven, without a yoke, without advantage, worthless, wicked and lawlessness.
According to the Jewish Encyclopedia, Belial held (holds) a very prominent position, even being identified with Satan himself. In the Book of Jubilees (i. 20), Belial is said to be the accuser and father of all idolatrous nations, like Satan: “Let not the spirit of Belial rule over them to accuse them before thee.” According to the Testaments of the Twelve Patriarchs, Belial is the source of impurity and lying, the spirit of darkness, and the angel of lawlessness (the ruler of this world).
If dominion is passing from Belial to the Sons of Light, it’s important that we know who Belial is.
Here’s to the sons of righteousness walking in His ways and upholding the covenant! Revelation 14:12 KJV puts it this way: “Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.”
