REPENTANCE & HIS INCREASING GOVERNMENT

Alcazar Castle in Segovia, Spain

So many things are being corrected to align God’s people to His kingdom plumb line in this Kingdom Day.

We need to see our glorious heavenly reality and live with our eyes fixed on the Author and Perfecter of our faith (Yeshua); and at the same time, we need to work out our salvation with fear and trembling here on earth where dying to self (crucifixion of one’s carnal nature), confession, repentance, etc are basic fundamentals of our faith, which enables the kingdoms of our earth to become the kingdoms of our God and of His Christ (Revelation 11:15). I get it when people claim that we no longer need to die to self once we accept the gift of salvation, we simply have to live from that place, which I believe is a true statement. BUT… I am seeing way too many believers, even mature believers, not recognizing and dealing with the reality of what they are manifesting here on earth when a part of their sin nature rears its ugly head.

What a scheme of the enemy to take something that will eventually be manifestly true, if a person presses on toward the high calling of God in Christ Jesus, tell them it’s true already right now, and thus eliminate the necessary process to get there. We have all seen people who say that they are something that they are not.

A close friend was harsh, unkind and manifesting selfish ambition towards someone they were beginning to mentor, I tried to walk with her for two years to get her to recognize the truth of what she did, confess it and repent (turn from it). What she continually told me is I see a different heavenly reality. Can I just be honest here? That is crazy talk! Everyone, but her, saw that she was manifesting sin that would cause her not to inherit the kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6:9-10; Galatians 5:19-21). When we sin against others, we sin against God as well. Our repentance is two-fold in this case.

Deception believes something to be true, when it is not in actuality; and then not being able to recognize this fact.

If you doubt the fact that believers still need to be grounded and operate in the fundamentals of our faith, let’s simply focus on one scripture: “If My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land (2 Chronicles 7:14 NASB). What is obvious to the most casual believer is that God is talking about His people needing to humble themselves, see His face and repent (turn from their wicked ways) after they have been adopted and called by His name (called His people).

On this note, please check out the excerpt below from the PRINCIPLE OF REPENTANCE article written by Richard Owen Roberts. He shares some excellent nuggets of kingdom truths, like “repentance is not a single act but an ongoing and continual attitude. … Tragically, our churches seem full of people who can testify to the occasion on which they repented, yet sin has the upper hand in their lives. … Multitudes cannot believe in Christ because they cannot see past the hypocrisy of the many who profess Christ but live for Satan!”

Repentance that leads to life is essential to His ever-expanding kingdom.

PRINCIPLE OF REPENTANCE

Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, and He said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise again from the dead the third day, and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem” (Luke 24:45-47).

Every failure in repentance robs heaven of one of the joys that rightfully belongs there. There is neither need nor room for speculation about repentance; God’s Word is clear. The following principles are evident as we open the Scriptures on this critical topic.

1. Repentance is a gift from God.

Repentance is not a natural trait that lies dormant, just waiting to be aroused and utilized. Peter recognized this when he saw the kingdom expanding: “Well then, God has granted to the Gentiles also the repentance that leads to life” (Acts 11:17-18).

Paul encouraged church leaders faithfully teaching the truth to those who believe falsehood, “… if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will” (2 Timothy 2:24-26).

2. Repentance is not a single act but an ongoing and continual attitude.

It is common to hear someone describing repentance as a past accomplishment, saying things like, “I repented when I was eighteen years old,” or, “You don’t need to worry about me, I’m all right with God. I repented twelve years ago.”

If someone comes to me with a report about repentance sometime in their past, I want to cry out, “So what? Who cares what happened years ago?” It is never enough to say, “I repent¬ed.” You must be able to say, “I am repentant. Day in and day out, month after month, year after year, unceasingly, I live as a repentant person. I live in the spirit and attitude of repentance.”

Tragically, our churches seem full of people who can testify to the occasion on which they repented, yet sin has the upper hand in their lives. Every time another false convert of this sort is added to the church, the church’s usefulness in the world with¬ers a little more. Multitudes cannot believe in Christ because they cannot see past the hypocrisy of the many who profess Christ but live for Satan!

The call of Scripture is not Pharaoh-like, to make some temporary concession to Christ in hopes of heading off impending calamity; or Shimei-like, to acknowledge sin in hopes of securing the future. The Bible demands a permanent turnaround. Repentance must last as long as breath. Oh, the pity of those who can tell you the day and the hour they accepted Christ, yet have no ongoing repentance and faith.

SEEING & PURIFYING

Child eyes

Too many think that the heavenly positions purchased on the cross for us (demarked by “in Christ” in Scripture) is their earthly condition when their actions speak volumes about a particular heavenly reality that has not been actualize yet. Those who say you just have to see the kingdom (heavenly) reality are partly right. Yes. We have to see those kingdom (heavenly) realities and let them be the points we are aiming at to be made perfect in Him. The leaven of “hypergrace” teaches that there is no longer any need for confession or repentance or daily taking up one’s cross, which nullifies important fundamentals in our a Christian walk. All Bridal Candidates are humble and teachable. The grace of God is never an excuse to sin, and the ability to see in the Spirit is never meant to puff a person up. Right after Scripture says: “We know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him, as He is” (1 John 3:2) it says “And every man that has this hope in Him purifies himself, even as He is pure.” (1 John 3:3). Both seeing Him, as He is, and purifying yourself are necessary components to become pure, as He is pure.
