Messiah Yeshua (Jesus Christ) shows us the blueprint for Ascension in Christ. The High Priest of the Order of Melchizedek is the Pattern Son who first descended into the lower parts of the earth before He ascended on high. “Now that He ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the inner parts of the earth” (Ephesians 4:9 Lamsa’s Aramaic).
There are many dimensions to this reality. The one that applies to Ascension in Christ is that a believer in Messiah Yeshua first descends to the Kingdom of God within them through Christ’s Cross, which should cause introspection, as we gave at ourselves in His reflecting pool. This examining of ourselves according to the plumb line of the Messiah is meant to cause an inner transformation of our Kingdom of God within. Being crucified in union with Christ is key to our treasures in darkness that are filled with the riches of His glory. A person who descends to their Kingdom of God within actually goes to the current level that person operates. If you find yourself stagnant or lacking depth, descension and its transformative process of crucifixion of the Kingdom of Self is probably your missing ingredient.
There are many mysteries of God embedded within you. Not the least of which is the Kingdom of God, which a person uses as a springboard to ascend legally “in Christ” by the Blood of the Lamb of God:
- “Neither shall they say, Lo here! Or, lo there! For, behold, the Kingdom of God is within you” (Luke 17:21 KJV).
- “Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter the holiest by the Blood of Jesus” (Hebrews 10:19 KJV).
Stan Tyra recently went into this same subject: “In order to ascend to God, it requires that we first descend into the truth of our own reality. Many are attracted to spirituality because the message preached promises a journey of upward ascent and a way out of the uncomfortable places we seek to avoid. However, any attempt to ascend to spiritual mountaintops that is not equally grounded in the valleys of reality is disastrous. All fruit grows in the valley, not the mountaintop. The valley is where all the rain from the mountaintop settles. It may appear out of sight but it’s never out of reach.
To be in the world but not of it, is a life fully realized and honored in both places. Heaven is such a popular message because it’s preached as escapism from what we don’t like. Equally, hell is preached because we need a place for those not like us to be punished for not being like us. The truth is, heaven on earth and hell on earth, are equally present to all of us.
Genuine spirituality is only realized when we first descend into the dark and disconcerting places within us we seek to avoid, disguise and deny. Without the descent, spirituality becomes mostly sentimental and superficial. It overpromises and under-delivers which requires we either admit it or cover it up and deny it. To know the truth, you must walk in the truth, or it will ever set you free.
When our life feeds on unreality, it starves. Therefore, it must die. The death we surrender too is not an escape from reality but a complete gift of ourselves which involves a total commitment to reality as it is, not as we hope or pretend it will be. Unless a seed goes down into the ground and dies, it remains itself alone.”
