“Hot air rises.” This is the phrase I heard, as I spent my quiet time with Yeshua (Jesus) this morning. Then Yeshua breathed on me and I felt the heat of His breath, as we flew away together.
Yeshua is our daily bread (Matthew 6:11) in every sense of the way. He sustains our life and every breath we take. One of His Name’s is the “Word of God” (Rev 19:13). He is not some words on a page, but the Living Word – a living golden stream of life.
For those who are interested in growing in ascending and descending via the Son of Man (John 1:51), I would like to encourage you to practice going through the Revelation 4:1 Door now.
One way that I have ascended for years is over Scripture. I just began to “do it” naturally, as I spent more time in His Presence as well as in His Word. For those who find Ascension (i.e., Divine Encounters) more of a challenge, a possible place to start practicing His Presence is the “Lectio Divina.”
“Lectino Divina” in Latin means divine reading. It’s a Benedictine Scriptural practice of reading, meditation and prayer, which is intended to promote communion with God through an increased knowledge of God’s Word and the flow of His Spirit. It treats Scripture as a Living Word, not solely text on a page. “Lectino Divina” was first established in the sixth century by Benedict of Nursia. It was formalized into a 4-step process in the twelfth century. I am not Catholic, but I found that the deeper I pressed into God’s Presence and His Word together I began to flow in the same manner as this ancient spiritual practice.
The four traditional steps of the “Lectio Divina” are:
[1] read,
[2] meditate,
[3] pray, and
[4] contemplate.
I personally added a fifth step of grace that empowers me to stay in an ascended state in the Word (Yeshua). That step is prolonged time of silence (listening) to His Kingdom within and without to see what He has to say.
“Lectino Divina” can be an individual or corporate practice. Here some suggestions for individuals who would like to practice His Presence using the Lectio Divina. I basically expand the four core steps of the Lectio Divina into seven:
[1] CHOOSE a section of Scripture that you would like to listen to God about and experience His Presence.
For example: “This is the One who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with water only, but with the water and with the blood. It is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is truth. For there are three that testify: the Spirit and the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement” (1 John 5:6-8 NASB).
[2] PREPARE: Quiet yourself to prepare yourself to hear God. I personally like to do my daily communion. You can do things like finding a quiet room, a favorite chair, some tea or whatever posture that will help you receive from God. One thing I like to do is come into DIVINE RIGHT ALIGNMENT where I command my body to submit to my soul, I command my soul to submit to my spirit, and I command my spirit to submit to the Holy Spirit. After you have done this for awhile, you will find that you do this naturally. You want your spirit man to have ascendency. Your soul and body are important too, but you want your spirit to lead, your soul to manage and your body to be in full health carrying out God’s mandates in the earth realm.
[3] READ & LISTEN: When you sense that your heart is ready, begin to slowly read the passage you selected and listen for a word, phrase or idea that the Spirit is highlighting to you.
[4] MEDITATE: Begin to meditate on the word, phrase or idea that has captured your attention by the Spirit. At this stage, you might want to ask questions, like: How can I grow into this truth? How does this apply to me? What are some practical applications to my life? Etc. It’s a good idea to write things down in a journal.
[5] PRAYER is simply meeting with God. Begin to speak to God using the word, phrase of idea that the Spirit highlighted. Speak from the depths of your heart. Tell God the particular way that you want to grow in His image, and take notes when things come to you.
[6] CONTEMPLATION: Focus your attention on the fact the God’s Presence is with you in the moment and always. Do what you feel led to do. You may feel like reading the text again, continue to meditate or talk to God or simply be silent.
[7] PROLONGED ASCENSION SILENCE: I have found that when I hover here in silence focusing on Him that I stay in all the Lectio Divina states at once. My main focus is on what He is saying, not the things I know. Many times I will write the Scripture down slowly, as I listen. I will write the revelation down as it comes to me. Some times I draw pictures too. The idea here is to experience the Living Word – the person of Jesus Christ (Yeshua Ha Machiach) – in a new and profound way. Deep calls to deep.
Many times God takes Ascension Groups into realms of the spirit that illustrate His Living Word. An Ascension Group that I belonged to for 4 years found that we could go as high in the Spirit as we went deep into His Word. You can never go wrong seeking the Father both in Spirit and in Truth (John 4:23). BTW – We have found that the Lectino Divina works especially well for men and people who seem to be more analytical (process things a lot in their soul).
So practice… practice… practice spending time in His Presence…
When we behold Him, we will be like Him.
